Installation Laserlight, mirrors, polystyrene panel, adhesive tape 333x547x380cm (Variable size according to installation)

Edition: Unique + 1 artist proof Installation made using laser light similar as used in alarm systems, a composition inspired by Marchel Duchamp's work “Sixteen Miles of String”. The laserbeam is reflected through mirrors installed in the room, and continues its line throughout the window where spectators are invited to view the work. The title refers to the effect that occurs when a strong light source is reflected trough the lens of a camera; also called lens flare. Morell is interested in presentation and viewing of art, and the possibilities in changes of routines connected to this.

Collages from ”The Thruth” series

The second work “The Truth” (2006) is an ongoing series of collages of Polaroid photographs. This series questions the photography as original document.Morell’s collages plays with the theme truth/fiction: The characteristic of the Polaroid is that it is the only classical photography that displays the (analogue) truth in an instant. The reality and the exposure cannot be manipulated afterwards. Only the sunlight can significantly fade the Polaroid print. Only via the different light sources and the intensity hereof is it possible to vary the content of the exposure of the motives. In his studio in Berlin Morell is investigating the different lighting sources with different filters and their effects of light intensity thereby playing with the means of authenticity, originality, source, morphing in the collage works. Furthermore there’s a dialogue between the themes of exposure of truth, authenticity of painting, the historical position of painting and the relationship between photography and painting.
