Bleding in with the atmosphere of a casually interiored Berlin apartment any audience visiting could make their own mind up whether the art was meant as a social badge or if the architecture was purposefully downgraded to rid the context of any of the usual art-gallery-aesthetics.
The intention with exhibiting art in living rooms with obviously ridiculed design objects was to show the hypocracy in moder art: That largely contemporary commercial art is produced as part of a business-machine removed from the reality - the reality that essentially is what art is originating from. Instead of producing the experience art, most artist stepping in the footsteps of Duchamp are propelled to have an output of essentially "designed" pieces: Their thinking as the subjective isolated individual immersed in material substance without working with empty methaphors of language which they apply to different medias. Modern art as this platonical reflection are often made by outsorced labour be it painter assistants, builders or other more knowledgable hands. Making the artist more or less the manager of a branding agency of output of objects and media. .
For any contemporary successful artist market liquidity and fashion strategies go hand in hand. Through this contemporary art have removed itself from any aesthetical purpose and revolutionary potential.Art is about the ugliness of the world, the Lacanian real. In art there is no beauty which retrospectively is exactly the reversal of what art once was formulated as.
The true liberation however does not lie in art but in the art of the real so to speak.
Domesticated experience emphasises "the real" element of art as it has no fine art context to cover behind. If it's just a pipe lying in the living room, it IS in fact a pipe.
